[edit]Description

It is the heaviest Korean dog breed. The Korean Mastiff is large, and in general appearance, it looks like other mastiffs. Its coat is short and in shades of orange, red and brown with a white patch in the chest. The average height is about 29 inches (74 cm) at the shoulder and can weigh up to 185 pounds.

[edit]Temperament

This breed is easy going, intelligent, good natured, lazy and loyal. It likes being around people, and needs the owner to be the pack leader. If it does not receive plenty of mental and physical exercise it can suffer anxiety. Having an order in their pack is a natural instinct, when living with humans, humans become their pack. The only way to maintain a successful relationship with this breed is to have all humans in a higher order than the dog. Gentle, gigantic; sweet natured, noble majestic and friendly, it tends to “lean” on its favorite people. Reserved with strangers, but, excellent with children and other pets.

[edit]Health

Cherry eye is common in this breed, this must be removed not tacked down. It is also very vulnerable to bloat, so a good diet is highly recommended, two or three small meals daily. It may also suffer from hip dysplasia and genetic eye diseases like Entropia.

[edit]Exercise

This breed has a moderate energy level, commonly being lazier than active. Puppies should never be given an excessive amount of exercise as their bones are still growing and are not strong enough. Instead a puppy should be given plenty of space to exercise freely. Like all dogs, it needs to go on a daily walk or jog to fulfill its canine primal instinct to walk.

[edit]Grooming

Brush weekly. The skin folds need a weekly cleaning to avoid the accumulation of bacteria.
